While it may not come as a surprise to some, Zone of the Enders is getting the same HD treatment as Metal Gear Solid.
Slated for a 2012 release, the Zone of the Enders HD Edition is a much welcomed update to the ZOE franchise that may get some fans just as excited as an official ZOE3 announcement.
Zone of the Enders and The 2nd Runner (ANUBIS) upscaled to widescreen 16:9 format for current generation consoles PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360
Uses the Special Edition version as the base for ZOE2, meaning this will be the first time ZOE2 Special Edition will see a North American release
NOTE: It has been confirmed that the North American HD Edition of ZOE2 does not include the "Super Hard" difficulty from the Japanese Special Edition. For those who haven't had the chance to play the Japanese ZOE2 SE, Super Hard is an unlockable difficulty inbetween Very Hard and Extreme, offering a perfect balance between fun and challenging for advanced players.
Introduces "Transfarring" (PS3 version only), the ability to save a game to the new PlayStation Vita handheld and continue playing on the portable device
Takes advantage of next-gen console hardware, running both titles at -- in some areas -- 60 frames per second
All new trophies/achievements
Improved audio quality for both games
All new opening movie animated by Sunrise, showing key plot points throughout the game, featuring "Beyond the Bounds"
ZOE2 will feature all new high resolution artwork upscaled for its anime cutscenes
If the visual quality of the Metal Gear Solid HD Edition is any indication, both ZOE1 and ZOE2 will be beautifully rendered with stunning visuals.
With the power of emulation technology, the handful of screenshots below might give us an idea of what we can expect to be playing on our PS3s and 360s come 2012.
Please be aware that these are from a PC emulator, not the HD Edition.
